Shropshire Lake Construction
We can build your lake to any specification required.
The depth and indeed the shape of the lake will be dependent on whether you are intending to stock fish and what types of fish. Fish such as Koi Carp require more depth than native fish.
If the lake is be planted with aquatics plants then this will also be reflected in the design. Marginal shelves will be required for aquatics marginal planting such as grasses and Iris. You will also need some areas of depth to accommodate aquatics plants such as water lilly.
If the lake is big enough for small boats then a jetty or pontoon may be required so this will require an area near the shore of around 4' deep.
Regarding the construction itself, sufficient width of access would be required to bring in the appropriate size diggers and skip dumping trucks.
Excess waste soil is ideally reused onsite to build up the banks, to build islands within the lake, or used to build other external features such as raised rockeries. The waste soil can of course be taken away if you prefer but this incurs much higher costs.
We can advise on different types of liner available and this will be dependent on your intended us of the lake and your budget as rubber based products can be very expensive although there are now some very reasonable compatible products on the market.
We not only build ponds and lakes, we offer a full lake management service and can advise on water quality, fish stocks and fish health and anything else you require.
